Local cuisine at its best: Le Bistrot d'Epicure
There are dozens of restaurants in and around Saint Cyprien which are worth a try, but this charming farm-style French restaurant really stood out for us in terms of quality and character. To get there just wander about a kilometre or two from La Grande Vue, to the crossroads of the Dordogne valley and the valley of the Vezere between Beynac and Saint Cyprien on the D703.
The ambience is warm and welcoming; the setting is picturesque, with an outside terrace for sunny days; and the décor is incredibly stylish, with original paintings by several local artists, including Magis, Costa, Mika and Nicolas Peyron.
There is a lovely wine list and the menu changes monthly, depending on availability of local products. Regardless of the season, you will have an appetising selection of dishes with creative combinations of flavours and textures. Prices range from €26 to €33 for two and three course meals, and you can also opt for a set regional menu for €25. The most recent regional menu comprised of Crispy Foie Gras with Apples to start, Duck with Potato Galette for the main course, followed by a decadent Chocolate Pavé. If there is veal on the menu we can also highly recommend it.
